Genetic Similarities of Escherichia Coli Isolated from Different Substrates of the Broiler Production Chain

ABSTRACT Brazil is the largest exporter of chicken meat and poultry farming one most important productive segments, despite major losses due to bacterium Escherichia coli, which also a zoonotic microorganism. The objetive this study was isolate E. coli evaluate its transmissibility potential from field using Pulsed Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) technique. Environmental samples (poultry litter, soil water) were collected broiler farms located in South where majority Brazilian production occurs. In addition, (gizzard, heart, drumette tulip) local supermarkets. As results, 47.36% positives for coli. Furthermore, 10 pairs clones found always same substrate (two water-water pairs; three soil-soil five meat-meat pairs) PFGE. These findings suggest that certain strains may have habitat preferences, making transfer type another more difficult occur. Moreover, since no between environmental meat, it possible imply low risk throughout chain.
